Saudi Arabia; about 1/4 the size of the US and arguably the most dominant religous, political, and economic player in the Middle East. Saudi Arabia, origin location of Islam, is home to the two holiest sites of Islam; Mecca and Medina.
Our informational sequencing throughout this program takes seminar attendees through three areas critical to understanding Saudi Arabia: Desert Culture, Islam, and the Arab Israeli State of Affairs -- the single most volatile subject in the Middle East.
KEY: YOU CANNOT UNDERSTAND SAUDI ARABIA WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING THE INFLUENCE OF THE DESERT, ISLAM, AND THE ARAB-ISRAELI SITUATION
This presentation is the perfect combination of academic and real world training. Our trainers are academic and real worl dexperts on Saudi ARabia; all have been there several times and still return there for work, research, etc. Culture provides all cultures a predictable behavioral road. Although US and Saudi Hi-Value Cultural Comonents are nearly polar opposites, a comparison of these two cultures is similar to looking into a mirror. The "other side" may be completely reversed, but in each side of the mirror, the image makes perfect sense.
Dr. C and his training teams are experts at explaining the "Why Behind the What" of this US-Saudi cultural phenomena. Previous Saudi Training Program attendees report they were overwhelmed with the quality, content, and thoroughness of the training -- more importantly,...now, they understand the Saudis with whom they work.
THE DEVELOPMENT OF US AND SAUDI CULTURE IS SURPRISINGLY SIMILAR.
US CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT: The harshness and demands of the US Westward Movement, the Frontier Expierence, etc. birthed a responding cultural structure -- represented best by the American Cowboy -- that still carries on today over 200+ years-of-influence later. The effects of this historial momentum still ripples out across the US today. The US system of social organization developed as a result of independent, mobile families providing economic, life sustenance, survival, and protection by the individual or individual family. This cultural structure worked for those early Americans and as small towns sprang up and cities developed, emphasis on the individual, with individual responsibilities and individual accountability to themselves and family developed into a strong individual-based cultural structure that today is measured as the most individual-focused culture in the world.
SAUDI ARABIA CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT: The harshness of the central Arabian desert living birthed a responding culture structure -- best represented by the stereotypical Bedouin perched on their camels making their way across the desert -- that still carries on today centuries-of-influence later. The effects of this historical background still ripple out through Saudi Arabia today. This "Desert Culture" system of social organization developed as a result of family, clan, tribe, etc., providing economic, life sustenance, survival, and protection necessary for survival to the individual in a de facto exchange for their loyalty the family, clan, tribe -- the group. You simply cannot survive for long by yourself in the Arabian Desert. This cultural structure worked for those early Saudis. And, across the nearly 2,000 years as small towns developed and large Saudi cities grew, emphasis on the group, with responsibilities to the group and group accountability developed into a strong group-based cultural structure that today is measured as one of the strongest group-focused cultures in the world.
